What is the Global Birdfair?
Pulsar is proud to announce official sponsorship of the Global Birdfair 2023 — becoming the only manufacturer of thermal optics among a wide range of huge brand sponsors!
Held at Rutland Showground from Friday 14th – Sunday 16th July, the Global Birdfair is widely considered the Glastonbury of the birding world, and is the perfect opportunity for likeminded ornithologists and lovers of nature observation to come together and make do their part in conserving nature worldwide.
Hosted by a staff made up entirely of hard-working and passionate volunteers, attendees can expect a fun-packed weekend, with a wide variety of suppliers offering all the latest kit designed to enhance the capabilities of a bird watcher — from our thermal imaging devices to a range of cameras, binoculars, clothing, books, and much more; and a huge range of events, including captivating lectures, book signings, a bunch of fun activities for youngsters, and even the Global Birdfair auction will be available across the weekend.

What Will Pulsar Have to Offer at the Show?
With a huge range of thermal imaging devices, including some incredibly exciting new product launches, we’ll be offering hands-on demonstrations of all the latest technology from Pulsar; allowing birdwatchers and nature lovers alike to see for themselves just how beneficial thermal imaging technology can be whilst out in the field.
Devices available at the show will include a large selection of thermal imaging monoculars and binoculars, with the new Telos LRF XP50, Pulsar’s first upgradeable device, and the Merger LRF XL50, the first thermal imaging device in the Pulsar range to feature a 1024×768 thermal sensor, taking centre stage.
Telos LRF XP50: Upgradeable Thermal Optics
The Telos LRF XP50 is an incredibly exciting new launch from Pulsar; introducing the first in a line of upgradeable devices designed to remain timeless by offering users the ability to upgrade technical components when new technology becomes available — ensuring the device is always up-to-date with the latest technology, whilst remaining cost effective.
Offering exceptional levels of thermal sensitivity, this device features a 40×480, 17 µm European-made Lynred thermal sensor with an astonishing <18 mK NETD rating and a powerful 50 mm germanium objective lens, achieving a detection range of up to 1,800 m and detecting even the smallest of heat signatures, making it perfect for spotting nests in dense foliage.
Merger LRF XL50: Unprecedented Thermal Clarity
These powerful new thermal imaging binoculars feature a 1024×768, 12µm, 40mK thermal sensor —the first device in the Pulsar range to feature such a high-resolution thermal sensor — retaining exceptionally clear image detail, even once it’s reached its highest magnification level (20x).
Its sensitive thermal sensor and powerful 50 mm f1.0 objective lens achieves a detection range of up to 2,300 m, ensures a well-defined image, and offers improved focus and better object recognition over long distances than any other pair of thermal imaging binoculars.
Retaining the well-loved aesthetics of a pair classic day binoculars, the Merger LRF XL50 will feel right at home in the hands of a birdwatcher; and its ergonomic design will enable long periods of observation without the user experiencing any fatigue.
