Enabling Greater Accuracy Through Stream Vision Ballistics

The release of Pulsar’s firmware update 3.1.001 introduces the ability to pair the Thermion 2 LRF XQ50 Pro and Thermion 2 LRF XG50 thermal imaging riflescopes to the new Stream Vision Ballistics app. Designed to provide users with precise ballistic calculations, the Stream Vision Ballistics app will enable extremely accurate long-range shooting. The app uses a ballistic algorithm to calculate the trajectory of a bullet, providing a suggested point of aim on the device’s screen and therefore enabling greater accuracy when taking a shot.

Both the Thermion 2 LRF XQ50 Pro and the Thermion 2 LRF XG50 riflescopes are fitted with precision laser rangefinders, and each scope offers a higher native magnification, making them the perfect choice for accurate long-range shooting; but this accuracy is further improved through these new ballistic calculation capabilities.

The Stream Vision App allows users to create several individual ballistic profiles and upload them to their riflescope. Being aware of, and having access to, ballistic data means users can easily ascertain their bullet drop and adapt quickly in ever-changing shooting scenarios. Once these profiles are created and the app is disconnected, the ballistic data is calculated by the riflescope.

To pair Stream Vision Ballistics to the riflescope, users will need to activate Bluetooth on the scope in the main menu bar. The ballistic calculator also requires activation within the LRF settings on the device’s menu.

With this firmware update, Stream Vision Ballistics is now compatible with:

Stream Vision Ballistics must be update to the newest* version of the app (1.0.3) in order to achieve the best possible performance and correct use of the ballistic calculator.

*Accurate at the time of writing (Aug 2023).

Optimised Laser Rangefinders

Pulsar’s Firmware 3.1.001 optimises the performance of built-in laser rangefinders, enabling additional distance indications in the centre of the screen, adjacent to the device’s reticle. This additional function can be enabled in the main menu.

The way in which these laser rangefinders are activated has even been updated to allow for greater comfort. Now just two short presses of the LRF button are needed to achieve precise distance measurements. The first press will activate the laser rangefinder, and the second will measure the distance between shooter and target — additionally calculating ballistic data if the ballistic calculations function has been activated in the main menu.

Achieve An Even Smoother Digital Zoom

Lastly, Firmware Update 3.1.001 makes switching between digital zoom levels much smoother — almost as smooth as an optical zoom! — ensuring users can stay on-target whilst zooming in. The precision zoom zoom step has been adjusted to provide improved comfort during long periods of observation, with zoom increments increasing the higher the magnification level.
