Who Is Pulsar-Vision?
Pulsar-Vision is the UK-based arm of Pulsar, exclusively distributed in the UK & ROI by Thomas Jacks.
Pulsar is part of Yukon Advanced Optics Worldwide, with headquarters based in Lithuania in the north-eastern part of Europe. Inspired by the lush woodland, sprawling meadows, streams, and rivers that are synonymous with this land, we strive to see beyond what is visible and to open up greater observation opportunities.
Recognised worldwide as industry-leaders, innovators, and trend-setters when it comes to consumer optics, we are proud of being able to say that all of our products are made in Europe. Our devices are designed to cater to a wide range of users in an even wider range of applications. Our reputation as an industry-leading producer of high-tech advanced optics has been gained through our steadfast commitment to developing devices for both recreational and professional markets, all of which are equipped with enhanced features and functionalities, impressive digital capabilities, and unrivalled connectivity options. Our main goal is to enhance human abilities, aid better performance, and enable success; even in adverse weather conditions.
Our devices use cutting edge technology to offer only the best results for a wide range of sectors, including law enforcement, security and surveillance outfits, search and rescue, emergency services, mariners, and recreational sportspeople.
Our Story
Pulsar was first introduced in its current form in 2009, but its beginnings go back even further to 1991, when the company consisted of a small group of engineers manufacturing wooden spotting scopes in the basement of an unfinished residential building.
The formative years of the company that would later become Pulsar were difficult ones, but the team were dedicated and never let their end goal — to create devices that would allow users to see and experience what the naked human eye could not — out of sight.
Fast forward to 1998 and the company has merged its Belarussian team with an American team from Mansfield, TX, and their newly formed brand, Yukon Advanced Optics, has turned its focus to high quality modern spotting scopes and has started to gain significant traction in the optics industry. By the end of 1999, these scopes are selling well in both Europe and the US, and production starts on their first night vision devices. Our ethos back in 1991 remains the same in the present day: invest in people, technology, and innovation to produce the most advanced optical systems possible.
Fast forward once again to 2009 and Pulsar is born in its current form and the company has broken through as a global leader in digital night vision technology. See our full timeline below.
Our History
Humble Beginnings
A small team works in the basement of an unfinished residential building to assemble the first handmade wooden observation tubes. These tubes find their buyers in the small markets of Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Italy, and Russia. These tubes are made from wood due to shortages of other materials — it was not possible at the time to acquire metal.
Launch of Daytime Optics Manufacturing
The company joins its team with a team in Texas, USA and introduces its newly formed brand: Yukon Advanced Optics, the core of which becomes daytime optical observation devices including spotting scopes and binoculars.
Production of First Night Vision Device
With the range of daytime optics growing ever greater, the company turns its attention towards night vision, and production of its first night vision device starts in 1999. The company’s share in the global market of first generation NV devices will grow to reach 70% by 2005.
Headquarters Open in Vilnius, Lithuania
Yukon Advanced Optics Worldwide opens its headquarters in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 2005, Yukon pioneers the development of digital night vision devices, becoming the first manufacturer in the world to make the Ranger and Ranger Pro 5×42 digital night vision binoculars available to the civilian market. The Ranger becomes the first truly effective digital night vision device and one of the most successful digital night vision devices in the company’s history.
The Pulsar Brand is Born
The Pulsar brand is launched, allowing the company to establish themselves as one of the global leaders in the digital night vision market. The range expands further and includes daytime, night-time, and thermal imaging devices — all of which feature a wide range of intuitive features.
Pulsar Introduces the First Thermal Imaging Device to the Public
The Quantum is released, becoming the first thermal imaging monocular made available to the general public and securing the company as industry-leaders in civil-purpose thermal imaging devices. The Quantum range will continue to be developed until 2018.
Release of Pulsar’s First LRF Equipped Night Vision Device
Pulsar introduces their first digital night vision device to feature a built-in precision laser rangefinder, opening up greater possibilities for users, including a better detection range, accurate distance measurements, and enhanced identification capabilities.
Expansion of Digital Functionalities for Optical Devices and the Launch of Stream Vision App
2017 saw the addition of greater connectivity and digital functionalities across devices, offering users a much more immersive experience via embedded video recording capabilities, built-in Wi-Fi modules, and mobile integration through the new Stream Vision app. These features would then be applied to most new devices.
30th Anniversary
2021 marks Pulsar’s 30th anniversary. They expand their production, logistics, marketing, client support, and research and development operations around the world. Around 20 new products are introduced to the market each year. Pulsar has a presence in over 70 countries — with exclusive distributors in the majority of these locations.
Multinational Company
As of 2023, Pulsar operates in over 70 countries and is made up of a team of more than 1000 employees.
